Safe Haven Ministries
Safe Haven Ministries offers a variety of services for women and children who have experienced domestic violence. Family advocates meet clients where they are at and journey alongside them through individual case management, psycho-educational and therapeutic support groups, safety planning, legal advocacy, crisis intervention (including emergency housing when necessary), and connection to other community resources. Through our nonresidential and residential programs, we offer direct client care to women and children through a trauma-informed empowerment model, to help clients not only achieve the goals they set for themselves, but regain confidence and independence.
We also offer prevention and outreach programs to the entire community. Our Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program educates students in middle schools, high schools, and universities about intimate partner violence and the resources that are available to them if they or their friends are ever in an abusive relationship. By educating students early on, we hope to prevent future instances of domestic violence.
We also offer programs for businesses and faith communities to increase community awareness of how to recognize, respond, and refer in instances of abuse. This is an important issue for businesses, as research has shown that domestic violence costs the U.S. economy roughly $6 billion each year in lost time/productivity and healthcare costs. Faith leaders are also in need of support from Safe Haven, as they are often the first to hear of a domestic abuse situation in their congregation.
Safe Haven Ministries is a faith-based organization, but offers services to all women and children in need regardless of faith background.
Safe Haven Ministries receives no government funding and does not charge for any client services. Your gift today will go directly towards ending domestic abuse in Kent County and West Michigan.
