Revive & Thrive Project
The Revive & Thrive Project started in 2015 in Grand Rapids. The innovative and evidence-based Healing Meals model employs strong social networks centered on healing foods, experiential service learning and nutrition education programs. The four tenets of the model include:
- Supporting households who are dealing with serious illness with free, delivered nutrient-rich meals during treatment, nutrition education and a community of loving support.
- Teens participate as Teen Chefs and are empowered through leadership opportunities, skill development and healthy eating skills. They also experience the joy of serving those in need.
- We promote a vibrant local food system and support the local economy through our food purchases. Our nourishing meals are made with whole foods using fresh, local, seasonal ingredients.
- Nutrition education programs promote the vital relationship between food and health and supports survivorship.
