New Development Corporation
New Development Corporation is a Grand Rapids-based 501 (c) 3 organization taking a multi-front approach to creating and nurturing healthy Grand Rapids neighborhoods with homebuyer education, general financial education, housing rehabilitation, and a free tax preparation program.
Our Homebuyer Education Program equips MSHDA loan applicants with the knowledge needed to succeed in the homebuying process, and in perpetuity as a homeowner.
Our Financial Capabilities Program uses FDIC Money Smart and NeighborWorks curricula to bring students control of their financial health through a greater understanding of subjects like budgeting, banking, credit, and student loans.
Our Housing Rehabilitation Program acquires tax-averted and foreclosed-upon houses, which are rehabilitated to create affordable, up-to-code, family-ready homes for sale to low- to moderate-income homebuyers.
Our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) partners with two area churches and numerous volunteers to bring free, accurate tax return preparation and assistance to our neighbors to ensure that they receive all appropriate refunds and credits which are so vital to low- and moderate-income residents.
For all of these programs, we rely on the support of our volunteers, donors, and collaborating organizations.
