Migrant Legal Aid
Michigan Migrant Legal Assistance Project is a 501(c)(3) human service organization that assists migrant families with all aspect of life, from educating them on their legal rights and responsibilities to representing them with civil legal problems, including adversities with living and working conditions. Services include legal and learning clinics, consultations, negotiations, resource building, referrals outreach to migrant camps, and direct legal representation. Michigan Migrant Legal Assistance has been expertly serving this population since 1973.
Mission: To provide civil legal services and human services for low income farmworkers and their families; and to obtain for the migrant a secure and harmonious community
Priorities: to enhance the protection of the migrant from adverse work and economic conditions, increase their freedom of choice; to promote the social welfare of the migrants; to educate migrants, outreach and social workers, attorneys and others whose duties or responsibilities affect migrants;
Priority areas: Housing, Employment, Civil Rights, Health, Education, Consumer, Income Maintenance, Public Benefits, Immigration assistance for victims of domestic violence/sexual assault
